LOTS of fish can stay in fresh or almost fresh water for long periods, such as winter flounder, as well as some rays and sharks, although they aren't regarded as diadromous species...

It did make me check the definition and learn something new.

Diadromous: (used of fish) migratory between fresh and salt waters

I thought that was the definition of anadromous, so I looked that up.

Anadromous: (of a fish, such as the salmon) migrating up rivers from the sea to spawn

The two terms are similar, but different.
