started off at farrington lake and for some reason the usual russian crowd was gone. tried for crappie and trying also to catch a golden shiner for some pike/pickerel/bass but no luck. i did however hook up with at least a 15" pickerel on a trout magnet
only for it to spit the hook right before landing it . fished the shoreline a bit with a panther martin and managed 2 baby bass and a smaller pickerel (first one of the year) along with several other misses. with no more action i went to manalapan lake for the rest of the day. got 10 crappies, 7 perch, 2 sunnies and a bullhead, all of which were good size. thats 23 total today along with 6 different species, probably the most variety of fish i ever caught in a single outing. |

i haven't seem the Russian crowd for a couple of days now. Wonder if they moved to another lake? fished there yesterday with my girl, and couldn't pick anything up on mealworms, waxworms, or jigs (usually get some crappie, perch, sunnies, and shiners), but nothing! Man that bridge got pounded hard this year!
Time to hit the salt! |
