There could be a fish worth $1 million swimming in Lake Wallenpaupack, some worth $100,000 too.
Cabela's sporting goods store has picked that lake in the Poconos for a contest, meaning a cast of a line could make you a millionaire. Cabellas and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission have stocked a bunch of tagged fish in the lake. One of them could be worth big bucks. What you're hoping to catch is a fish with yellow tags. The tags each have a code on them. More than 1000 tagged bass, walleye and trout were stocked into 60 or so lakes across the country. Lake Wallenpaupack is one of them. The tags each have a code on them. Sixty of the fish have codes eligible for first prizes. The first one to catch and register one of those winning codes gets a million dollars. The second and third get $100,000. There are plenty of other prizes too. It's all part of Cabella's "Wanna' Go Fishing for Millions" contest. The contest started Saturday and runs through July 14th. You can't just go to the lake and start casting away and hope to win a million dollars, first you have to go online and register, then you're part of the contest. Then you can cast away, the money fish are waiting to be caught. The contest is a bit of a race. There are fish with winning tags in Lake Wallenpaupack and others across the country. Whoever catches the first one gets a million bucks. If you catch the fish with an Abu brand reel and Berkley line, the prize doubles. That means a possible grand prize of $2 million. go online and register.......first ![]() |

Would have been nice of them to stock a lake in New Jersey -- our punishment for the Xanadu fiasco!
