Opening day trout PA/NJ

Another opening day in the books! Tired of the same old rainbow after rainbow and needed to change it up this year. Saw PA was same day as nj this year and took full advantage of it. Brought my camper with some of the crew and camped out up on the flatbrook for the weekend. Plan was to fish pa opener sat morning make lunch then headed back into nj for the afternoon. Got our limits for the smokers in both states and then some. While in pa cooking lunch we set up riverside and I went for a walk after I ate… while hiking back a few miles I came across a hole loaded with big browns. I went 4/5 on big brownies cast after cast and lost one bigger then all these pictures below. Those girls got their pictures taken and released quick lol . Great opening day and definitely the start of a new tradition.

Finished it off Sunday with my little guy Finn.
He is now 4 and turning the handles so we hiked down the mountain to my favorite little creek to fish for trout in nj close to home. The kid played with a dozen or so I’m the short two hrs we were down found his new favorite rocks on the side of the river and hiked back up the mountain home. Great way to finish opening weekend!

Nice browns !! Maybe some day we will see brown trout stocked again in NJ.

Mikey.....the pic of your son is what it's all about. Catching fish is great, the outdoor experience and the look on a child's face catching tops all. It's how we all started, memories for a lifetime right there!

Trailer setup looks awesome, fishing with all the creature comforts of home.

To Andy's question, did NJ stock browns this year? Reason I ask is a friend sent me pics from a local lake he fished Saturday that definitely doesn't have holdovers. 5 beautiful browns to be exact. They were either privately stocked, which would surprise me, or NJ or someone else dropped them in. It's a small urban lake so I was surprised when he sent the pics since I thought NJ still wasn't raising browns in the hatchery.
