Default Gambler Friday Striperrama!

We shoved off at 7:30 with 20 heavily bundled up patrons ready to warm up catching Stripers. Capt. Mike turned right when we broke the inlet and within a few minutes we were seeing bird life and good readings so we tried to put her on the first drift of the day. We had a boat pull into the birds and set up way too close so Mike aborted and headed further south to avoid this nimnod . Birds and readings all over the place and this Capt. decides to stop on top of us. This was the only time that we had anyone that close. It was great without the crowds. We started a drift and had fish hanging within minutes. I dropped a couple of fish one the chrome croc and switched to a naked Ava 47 . Caught a few quick cranking. We made a few short moves and continued to pick away. The birds were getting more organized and fish were boiling around the boat. Capt. Mike and John from the Reelseat were beating on those striped devils when I switched back to the spoon and started catching steady. We made another move and stopped on the best readings that I have seen this year. I was fishing 40lb mono so I could lift fish and free up the nets when I got bit on my first handle turn. This fish was pulling drag and staying down. After a few minutes of give and take she came into view. There was no way that I could lift this fish. She barely fit in the net. She looked to be around 40 lbs! Chris took a pic and back she went in the water. That was my personal best Bass. (Chris said that he would put up the pic.) We continued to catch the rest of the day with 2 to 5 on at times. We saw followers throughout the day. I ended up with 20 fish keeping my 2. I think John caught at least 25 right next to me. Everyone went home with fillets. What a day!!!
We caught on croc spoons, avas, swimbaits, Deadly Dicks, and poppers. The reel/pause seemed to work best for me. looks like the fishing will hold up for a while. Hope to hit them one more time next week.

Here's that pic. I only get to fish Stripes a few times a year so this was huge to me.
I hope to get one more trip in before it's over.
