Caught my limit on the musconetcong in under 30 minutes this morning. First time I have caught my limit on opening day. Crowds were lighter than i expected probably from the weather. All caught on a small spinner.
I managed to land one of the big girls they stocked, but as i was putting her on my stringer she slipped out of my hand and back into the river. Still kicking myself for that one. |

When i cleaned the fish i none of them had anything in their bellies. They must have been hungry.

It was an odd opening day. I think the weather scared away a lot of people. My son and I had a spot to ourselves at 8:00 am when normally there are 7-8 regulars. There was no stocking sign either this year, so I was a little worried when we first got there.
Fish were active, but a little smaller than usual. I did end up with my personal best NJ stream trout, a 22 1/2" fish that my 12 year old helped me net. Good day and great memories. |
