Saturday 10/18
THE FALL RUN IS ON!!!!! Steamed out this morning with another sold out crowd on our first fall daytime bass trip. Wasn't sure what to expect with all the poor weather we've been having, so knew we were going to have to do some looking. Put a bunch of miles in, looking in a few different areas before we found what we were looking for. Miles upon miles of JUMBO bass feeding on top. They moved fast and were a little tricky to catch at times but when we got in them it was game on with the diamond jigs. Kept on their tail until they staged up in one area in the early afternoon and started feeding better. Had a bunch of drifts with multiple fish on at a time. Tailed A47 diamond jigs worked the best today, color didn't really seem to matter. Everything caught today was too big and was safely released. Here's a couple of the pictures from today, I'll post more as the guys send them to me. For the first day of our fall bass season, I'll take it! It should only get better from here. We have plenty of room tomorrow! Again, be ready for anything. Bring the diamond jigs as well as the shads! Sailing 7:30AM-2:30PM DAILY for Stripers 2 Simon Lake Dr Atlantic Highlands NJ Open boat, limited to 35 passengers. Walk-ons welcome provided we have room. Secure your spot now at fishdarkhorse.com or call/text 973-440-0335 10/19 Back out this morning with another good crowd of guys looking for their shot at some bass. Knew the forecast was iffy from the start, but when that stiff SE wind hit us within minutes of leaving the dock I knew it wasn't going to be nice where we fished yesterday. Decided to take a steam in a different direction where it would be much nicer. Bounced around seeing some bites, but never fast. Couple of overs, a keeper and a bunch of shorts by the end of the day all on shads. Took a look around our local waters towards the end and found some absolute mother load readings. Thought we hit the jackpot until we stopped the boat and they wouldn't bite, over and over again. Even had them come up on bait a few times and still wouldn't eat. Very frustrating to say the least. Not sure if it was a tide thing, or just a brand new batch of fish moving into the area and just haven't settled in yet. We'll have to wait and see! The forecast for tomorrow looks brutal, much worse than today. With that being said we're going to take a pass on tomorrow and head back out on Tuesday. Tuesday looks good right now with some much needed west wind.
