Has anyone ever tried jigs for porgies ? Just curious what size I should try.

You need to find them in fairly shallow water.. They will readily strike small bucktails say 1/4 to 1/2 ounce.. Add a tiny strip of clam and they hit even faster.. they will hit AVA jigs as well but thats overkill as far as hook size is concerned.. Bucktails are very effective, but in water deeper than say 40 feet or in strong currents you are better off bait fishing.. Those small jigs need to be right on bottom, not floating in a hard current. bob
