Lost a nice one today... clipped off at my feet!
Been squeezing time in on the river when I can. Couple small walleye, one nice smallie and today I lost a thick esox at my feet. I knew itd be hairy landing her with my 15 lb leader. Got video of the fight and a pic of her on the surface.
After a series of jumps I Got her to the shoreline after a lengthy fight. Grabbed the leader to slide her up some rocks to land her and I was a min or 2 too earlier as she still had some spunk. One lunge and the line clipped across her gill plates. Adios! Sucks she's got a plug in her face but at least it wasn't in her mouth and the hooks are thin wire. Here's the pic

Always sucks when that kind of thing happens. But truth is you got her... and got the thrill of the fight. Just cost ya a bit more than if you got that lure back! HA! At least you saw the beast.

Oh man! Always a heartbreak down there where the serpents live. At least you saw the beast though! I didn’t get to see mine at all! Plug magically disappeared within a split second last week. No weight, no nothing! Just poof, gone!!!
