Still on the hunt for pike ..... it will happen mind you, it will.

Fished from 8PM till Midnight

Bait: Shinners and Worms

Set up: Slips and bottom rigs

Headed over to Effingers to get bait and off to the lake I go. Always good to see folks teasing me about my pike hunt but hey ..... if its going to happen it will happen to me.

Anyways got to my new go to spot and start working lily pad edge. In first 5 minutes my shiner gets slammed and I see bobber making a run onto the pads. Pike it meant not to be but I nice 18 inch pickerel came out, after I worked it out from the pads. In the next hour about 3 channels came out all on shinners from the same spot but without any size to them.

After 9 real fun began with finally locating a crappie school. After one was caught it was just a matter of time till the others were pulled out as well. Overall 5 were caught, nice and fat with average 10-11 inches in size.

Bottom rigs produced more channels again without any size to them and a nice white perch. Been awhile since I saw one up there, always good to see one.

Anyways was a great night on the water, fish kept me busy and hungry for more.

All were released except 2 crappies that made my late dinner.

Looks like weekends will be another Spruce and Delaware marathon so stay safe out there at night and tight lines to all.

Sounds like you had some good action out there. I used to fish that place constantly in the 90's. Oh I do love a nice Crappie dinner. Tasty fish! Mr Pike, where are you?

If you were there in the 90s then you definitely saw me out there.

And if you fished of the bridge and had 3 or 4 drunk mofos on the john boat messing with your lines than for 100% you know who it was now.

Mr Pike in hiding but he will come out to play sooner or later.

I was fishing Milton lake at same time and took a picture that looks remarkably similar....sunset was best part of evening, complete skunk otherwise. I will cut myself some slack since it was my first time fishing that lake.
