Default Another Farrington Lake Update

Time for another Farrington Lake Update.

Yeah yeah I know Farrington Lake. But what can I say it is a lake you love to hate but still coming back to year after year.

Big thanks to all for the bait shops update. On the side not if you are planning on night fishing and need some glowsticks to use DO NOT buy them from Effingers. Not a single one of them worked. Not one and I bought like 10 of them. Thanks Effinger.

But otherwise fishing was not as bad as I came to expect. Met up with someone from the site by accident (sorry forgot you name, thanks johnny walker for that)

Decided to give myself a bit of a challenge and catch every single one of kind of fish found in that lake. Below is an update on the fishing from Friday night till Saturday night.

Bait used: Shinners and nightcrawlers.

Total fish caught below:
Crappy - 15
Pickerel - 4
Catfish - 3
Sunny - 2
Perch - 2
Bass - 1

Almost all fish got released except of bigger crappy, pickerel and bass.

Places fished: From Sr Johns bridge toward the bicentennial park along the shore line. Lake is almost completely dry going from Riva Ave bridge toward the prison for those fishing of boats.

Best time to fish: From 7pm till 9pm. Fish was going nuts no other way to describe it. Morning fishing was terrible but once again just fished of the shore and not the boat.

Now I am left with the pike and carp to pull out from this lake. It bound to happen.

For the detailed spots fished feel free to pm me. Don't mind letting people know there is enough fish for all of us.

Yours Truly,

Andre

Cool report. Surprising only 2 Sunnies if you were fishing crawlers...they usually kill those. Is there a sunny shortage in that lake or something?

Not at all. I wasn't really trying to tell the truth so pretty much when I was paying attention that's when I pulled them out.

Same here man. How did u make out on Saturday.

I am not sure if I be around tonight but you should try the other side. Finally got that bass out I was hunting it down from 4pm.

Also bicentennial park cove should have them as well. Saw them in afternoon but couldn't land any of them.

Ya I have launched from church lane a couple times the past week and it is so low its ridiculous. Is there anywhere to launch from where you have been fishing?. I have been trying every lake in the area the last few weeks and havent caught anything the last 9 trips (probably because im only throwing frogs and buzzbaits) any advice would be great

Better to launch of the Sr Johns bridge. Just follow riva ave down to bicentennial park light. make a left at the light follow road down than right at the stop sign. Right before the bridge launch area on the left side and there is plenty of water to launch. Advise would be heading towards the damn. Like mentioned best time was from 7 to 9 pm for me but I fished from the shore. If going during the day try bicentennial park cove should have some luck there but surprisingly fish was more in a middle than hugging the shore lines.

IF want to use live bait two to three feet was the perfect depth for me.

Good luck you'll get them.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for releasing those sunfish.

With over 1200 people per square mile, New Jersey is one of the most over-crowded places in the world. (Japan has 850 people per square mile).
Without conservation-minded, catch-and-release sportsmen like yourself releasing those sunfish, there would be a paltry gamefish legacy for our children to experience.

The next time I see a sunfish, I will recall with gratitude and admiration, your noble gesture of releasing those sunfish. I salute you sir.
