Default Stretch 25

Does anyone take the front hook off of their Stretch 25's and just run the rear hook? I started trolling with them last year and really liked them but when you catch a bluefish on one the Stretch becomes a weapon at the boat!! I figured that it might be a bit more manageable with only 1 set of trebles to worry about. Do you think this would change the action of the lure? I remove front trebles on some of my stick baits that I run for trout and salmon up on Lake Ontario and it doesn't seem to change anything. What do you think??

Feathered siwash in the rear and a "mullet hook" up front which is the treble with one hook cut off

I have run them with a single bucktail hook in the back. if you were going to remove a hook I would remove the back one. not the middle. lots of blues will eat the back hook more bass on the middle.
the mullett hook is a good idea. Never tried it. but sounds good.just make sure you put it so the points are facing down and not hugging the body.

good luck also try other diving plugs like rapala x raps, magnums and bomber divers. def. carry some with that metal lip. you get a different action on each one and it gives you options to see the action that the fish really want.

on any and all lures, fresh or salt, big or small, with single or multiple treble hooks, I have been clipping one of the points off, .. No difference in hookup rate or retention, but a BIG difference in ease of releasing the fish with minimal injury.. I really wish more lure manufacturers would use double hooks as standard, instead of those ghastly trebles.. Trebles just tear fish apart, thats all the damn things are good for. bob
