Spent the afternoon checking out a few new spots. After deciding I wasn't going to catch anything in the Dunkin Donuts-coffee-with-milk colored Passaic and wasn't in the mood to be ass-to-ass with a half-dozen other guys in the big pools on the Black River near where they stocked on Thurs, I hit up a little lake.
Missed a bunch of hits from dinks before hooking into this Fatty Arbuckle about 30-yards out from shore on an ultralight spinning rod. Had to wade out into marsh muck right up to my very boot-tops to get him out of the water and quickly back in and was so excited I dropped my phone (which, by the grace of the fishing gods, landed on a couple of reeds an inch above the water). Was worth it though... Pic doesn't entirely do it justice but this slobasaurus was a solid 20+ inches and could have fit a softball in his gaping maw. Big enough that he could have eaten my previous personal best. Total thrill.I'm clueless about what largemouth weigh. Any guesses on what this one might tip the scales at? I'm only a year in but, man, this bass fishing this is a freakin' blast. Mike |

.
Great bass! here is a length-weight chart for bass. It will give you an estimate of the fish's weight. Although it doesn't take into consideration the girth of the fish. http://www.windycityfishing.com/bass...sion_chart.htm
