Default Gambler Friday am Fluke

Headed down to the Gambler with Grandson in tow to try our luck. It was a little bumpy when we broke the inlet as Capt. Bob headed towards the Axle Carlson reef. We had a lot of eager kids at the rail ready to fish and they weren't disappointed. The drift wasn't bad and we started to pick away at shorts and a few keeper Seabass. The regulars started to catch a few keepers as there was action around the boat. It was good seeing and hearing all the excited kids do battle with the fish. Grandson caught our first keeper on a nuclear chicken with a squid strip. I added another to our box on a pink shine with no tail left and a squid strip. The action continued until the swell/breeze got to be a bit much so Capt. Bob headed north and inshore to calmer seas. The drift was still decent as the action continued. I got another decent keeper on the same nub of a grub/squid strip. All too soon 3 horns sounded. We hung around and watched as Chris finished filleting the last 2 orders at the dock.
We held bottom with 8 oz all day. Nuclear Chicken and Pink Shine worked for us on single hook Chicken rigs. The rental gear bait dragger set ups caught their share of keeper Fluke and a lot of Seabass. I would like to thank Captain Bob, Steve, Joe, Chris, and Dom for doing such a good job and putting up with this old hack.
