Lightbulb Upwelling:

What a difference a year makes. This time last year the water at the beach was ICE cold and a constant fog bank hung just off the beach as a result. This year NO upwelling to speak of and water at the beach is WARM !
Not that it affected the fishing that much last year, will be interesting to see what happens as the rest of the summer plays out.
I try to swim in the ocean as much as possible in the summer at Seaside Park: observations, no jellyfish seen in years, no calico crabs seen in surf while swimming. Did see lots of birds working a mile out today for a short while.

Default Re: Upwelling:

Beaches in asbury area were LOADED with sand fleas and calico crabs. More than I've ever seen in my years hitting those beaches.
