Working on this for a bit after getting the roof rack installed. I was fortunate enough to find exactly what I was looking for on FB marketplace. Not only was the price right but the seller was just 20 minutes from my home. Smaller and LIGHTER is what I was looking for after that red tank almost killed me ! BUT that big red sled did me right after 30 years.
I'm down in the pine barrens now, there are some lakes and streams down here but it's all cedar water, not even sure if anything lives in the red water ??
Hoping to float some new waters soon with the Raritan watershed offering so much like the Rockaway and Neshanic. The Lamington as well as the lower N and S branches are my "home" waters along with the mighty main stem !
Uncle Ken has been kind enough to let me store it at his place since I have zero storage at the 55+ community down here.

My wife and I fish out of an Old Town Tripper 18ft @ 80 lbs. Have you considered hood loops instead of your front tie downs? A hood loop is a length of 1 inch webbing with a grommet securing the two ends to form a loop. A fender bolt under the hood secures the loop to the car. Using a ratchet strap you can quickly secure the front of your ride without scratching the hood of your Honda. The selection of which fender bolt is important. You want the angle of the tie down to provide a downward vector. Good luck with your new ride.

I'm so old school it's not even funny ! Been using that cloth close line to tie down for years, thanx for the suggestions.

I don't know that you can get a canoe down the Rockaway if you're thinking above Boonton res. Real low at the moment. Below the res down to the Passiac is probably your best bet.

The Rockaway is also a tributary of the Lamington and the Neshanic is a tributary of the South Branch

the Rockaway river north of Boonton past the Powerville dam is good to float and fish not to much trash just some small stuff like bottles and plastic stuff lighters and old bobbers an occasional lawn chair.
