Default Barnegat Bay Fluke report

Haven't been able to get down there much this summer but the Bay has been good again this year. We started on Saturday in the intercoastal but the juvenile Seabass were tearing up everything. As the tide started pushing out we found a dropoff with Fluke ambushing tiny spearing washing over. We got 5 keepers on jigs tipped with Spot or Pinfish strips. Went back this morning and got 2 more keepers and a dozen shorts on salted peanut Bunkers but I had to leave for home at 8:30 just as the bite and tide was picking up. We did best in 5 to 7ft 75 degree water.

Nice to see a great report from the Barnegat. So much for having to go out to the deep to put a catch together. Light tackle Fluking in 5 to 7 feet of water sounds like fun!

Hi Gerry, we have a small boat so running to the deep is not an option. We have been making it work in the Bay and it is fun. We do have our fair share of slow days but I'm just thankful to enjoy my time there. Thanks for reading my report.

Sure thing Brew and it's not the ship, it's the Captain!
