The last few trips I've broken off a couple of very nice fish. Both times recently the "perfection loop " at the top of the snelled hook has broken. What other knots are out there that have more strength and can be prefabbed and ready to go when needed. Typically I tie a dozen rigs prior to going fishing. Any thoughts?

And are you really wetting the knot before you cinch it down ? Loosen the drag a little after you move the fish out of the piece

Hey Dan, I'm using 50lb flouro on my snelled rigs with 65
Lb power pro and 50 lb topshot. I have the drag set for about 20 lbs or so If I remember. Broke them off while they were pulling drag, right at the perfection loop, 2x. A little frustrating to say the least. Maybe my knot wasn't tied properly IDK. I do get some spit on the knot while tieing them. Bad luck I guess. Not many other knot options out for a snelled rig I guess.

Is the perfection loop on the hook end or the main line connection?

I connect to the mainline topshot which is doubled up

I'm thinking smart fish running back in the sticky stuff. You could try a surgeon's loop. Easy to tie and pretty strong.

Everybody is using fluoro these days, and it is supposed to have much better knot strength.. I am ultra careful with knots and very carefully wet and draw them tight.. After having a bunch of big fish break knots with fluoro, I switched back to mono.. Its wasn't cheap fluoro either it was Seaguar... It did not work as well as mono as far as "knotability", at least not for me...bob

Use 80 for your snells. Perfection loops is about 40% line strength. Surgeon's loop knot is near 100%.

When I'm doing rigs at home I use a drop of corn or canola oil in lieu of saliva when cinching. I think it helps for better knot.
