Default Gambler canyon report and upcoming stripers

Gambler returned this morning with another good catch of yellowfin. Fish are still ranging 50 to 80lbs.

Weds trip was pretty good, too, with a yellowfins, mahi and a couple of bluefin. John Nemouth and a couple others caught their limit of yellowfin on that trip.

Still not too much has been happening for us during dark. To this point, it has been 90% day bite. Both Weds and Friday nights were just squid. We tried drifting in the Hudson at night for swords but didn't even see much bait life, although the water was beautiful.

The Gambler has 3 more offshore tuna trips scheduled to go through the end of this month and then one trip a week, Tues night/thru Weds, during November. There are still open canyon spots available in Nov.

Once we get a cold snap or two, I expect we'll see more longfin tunas in with the yellows.

Gambler Striped bass and blue trips will start on Nov 1st, fishing everyday except Weds through November and into December. We are limiting our striped bass trips to 35 passengers or less. trips run 7:30AM till 2:30PM. We will start our day with lures but the crew is ready for bunker snagging and live bait if the bunkers are around.

Hope to see you aboard

Capt Bob

Was on the 24hr trip Friday into Saturday. We stopped on the fish and had a decent bite for sure. Wish the boat would of went out deep at least for a chance at swords. My brother and I went 1 for 1 each. Just wish we could of added a sword or at least a chance at a sword.

I know some other boats have put some nice swords in the boat lately. I understand that most on the boat aren’t set up for swords but most of them are in the bunk by then.
