Default Sunday Slaying

Had my cousin and uncle come up from Maryland this sunday to play with some gators. It was them, my pops, and me. The plan was to push off early and head up north to raritan. Left out of MI with the stiff W winds, ocean was more or less flat so we were hoping by some miracle the bay wouldn't be so bad...it wasn't!

We set the hook, started a slick, and fish on in no time. As we got out there later than we had hoped, we only caught the tail end of the outgoing, before we lost the tide, and the winds REally started gusting gale. Picked up the hook (which felt like i was in an episode of Deadliest Catch) and when jigging with the fleet. Managed 1, the smallest blue i've seen all year at about 4 lbs.

At that point the bay was terrible so I convinced everyone that we should go into the ocean and hit a spot i had a feeling would produce. Got there, saw one boat trolling around pick up a blue. So we set the hook again, started a slick. Then we see the Golden Eagle slam on his breaks about 200 from us on his way back to Belmar and we see the entire boat start hooking up, so we ran and pulled the anchor and started jigging them for about the next 1.5hrs. Ended up being a super day. We caught about 15, biggest going about 18#'s.

Great day, with great people.
