Questions about trolling for trout RV

hello everyone

I recently moved to Hunterdon county and have been looking into fishing Round Valley for trout. Previously I have done most of my fishing in small upstate NY lakes for bass and really need some help figuring out RV.

I have a small boat and a Canon downrigger. What baits/rigs would you guys recommend for trout in RV? any particular areas of the lake I should target? what depths usually work for you around this time of the year.

I would appreciate any input. Not asking for actual fishing spots, just general information about rigs, etc., to help me learn the lake.
