Great article, very surprised by the total number of stocking locations, as well as where they are being stocked. There are literally Pike everywhere in this river .

Awesome article and great info on access and stocking sites. Passaic pike is definitely one of the things on list of new places to try this year. I've only gone after pike at Budd before.

If I got the picture right, Skunk's now a F&G celebrity...

Well, I guess the cats outta the bag now, lol.

Seriously though, it can only help right. More stockings and more cleanup projects can only improve the fishery. Evident by the fact it seems the stocking numbers from the last two years were significantly higher than previous years. Plus it's not a "take home" fishery for most anglers so even higher pressure shouldn't hurt to much.

I live right on the Chatham/Madison border and I have never really fished that stretch of the river- I always fish near South Mountain. I guess I should try closer to home.

Thumbs up Re: Pike

NJ's new state fish should be the Pike. They are a significant force in the Passaic River. The new most sought after fish in NJ. Posts about Pike on this site have blown up over the past couple years. Plenty of toothy critters out there for everyone to enjoy. Lets get em!!!

I'm still searching in angst for my double digit fish--especially after losing one this summer that was easily over 36". It was my first trip on the Passaic targeting pike and I think I was a bit "under gunned" in the gear dept (lol). Needless to say, 10 lb mono is no longer in my pike vocabulary. Hopefully 2013 will be the year I cross "big Passaic pike" off my fishing bucket list!
