Hopatcong tips for kid and me ?

Renting a small boat early Monday for my 6 y.o. and myself. First time on a boat for him. Any preferred lures, baits or other tips so we hopefully catch something ?

Where are u renting a boat from? It's a big lake and that will determine where you should fish. If I may make a suggestion, go to Dow's on Nolan's Point and then you should be a 15 minute motor to Byram Cove. That's where I've had the most success in the middle of the summer. Get out early too, once the sun gets above the trees, those fish are gonna dive deep and stay there unless you have some cloud cover.

actually yes, plan is to rent from Dow's. We went there in early June but they talked is out of renting because it was too windy and chilly...so Monday I plan to go back to finally get him out on a boat.

So, I'll ask where that cove is....then what ? live bait ? spinners ?
