RV Alewives Are Back!

Went to RV last night after dark and observed huge swarms of alewives in the 2" size range. Probably the 2023 year class. Was able to catch a few on light tackle and actually had a few literally fly into my boat!

With so much new water added to round valley from the river pump station .
Hopefully there now is enough food for them to recover for a decade or more .

Huge difference in the fishery there when they were plentiful and used to average 5” or more .

Good to see for sure.. With all of the new water and shoreline cover, lets hope this leads to a rebound for the herring..
