Default fishing company cheers and jeers

many people, including myself, spread the word when they are not happy with a company, but sometimes forget to give a shout out when a company stands behind it's product or does what's right. so i just wanted to share some of my experiences from this year.

I have a few shimano rods and this year had my first problem with one...it snapped in half on a huge pike. Unfortunately i lost the fish but for $11 bucks to ship the broken rod back to them, shimano sent me back a brand new AND UPGRADED newer version of the rod for free. Pretty awesome if you ask me! unfortunately i think they no longer sell rods with lifetime warranties, but cool that they'll still honor the old ones.

I don't have a ton of Daiwa gear, but i really love my lexa reel and i use it for saltwater ALOT and musky. I used the crap out of it for almost 2 seasons in the salt (properly caring for it) yet the knob on the handle still got sticky/crunchy haha, turns out when i took it apart the little washer/bearings rotted and broke. It was past the warranty time but when i called daiwa to order a new part (don't email them, it takes forever to get a response) they offered to send me a new knob at no cost. Again, pretty awesome if you ask me!

Now on the other hand....Frabill...So last year i had a musky go right through a $150 frabill net with it's teeth like butter so i emailed them twice...no response either time. Wasn't really worth my time anymore because it was an easy fix, i just tied it up. Then this year I noticed the numbers and lines on my frabill bump board were fading away pretty bad. This email they actually responded to (yay ) asked for a picture of it. So i send a picture of the clearly faded measuring device and remind them it's not even a whole 2 years old. the response i got was "depending on how it's used it can fade over time"...so I say "so you're telling me that frabill's bump boards, which are more expensive than similar boards from other companies, can not handle measuring fish for 2 years?"

can't wait to get a response...
