Wonder if the inflow is a trout hotspot?

Yeah, they really pulled the plug on Spruce Run. It appears to have dropped more than six feet in the last two weeks.

I don't know anything about how they engineer our municipal water supply, but looking at Spruce Run it would seem to me that it would be a lot more efficient if they just had a pipe running from the reservoir to the weir. It looks like they just dump the reservoir to make the entire South Branch higher and they catch a percentage of that water at the weir.

Taking water from spruce first is more cost effective than rvr. Dale recently educated me on this. No turbines to fire up at spruce I think like they have to on the valley.

Regardless, we need rain badly. And not concentrated mass volumes over just Union county.

Thumbs down Re: Lower South Branch Monstah !

Water temps on the SB and main stem should be coming down with the cold water feed and flows should be up. Any trout that held over through this warm summer should be on the move!

We are gonna give it a few days to see if they actually go and grab that tire. If they don't, we will need some volunteers to move it approximately 100yds to a location where it can be taken away by truck.

Interesting that the water release was not into the south branch of rockaway creek but at the alternate at the south branch of the Raritan at Hamden pumping station. Its listed here on 8-19:
