![]() I'm going a week after you and have been reading up for a month or so on fishing down there. All the canals around Miami hold peacock bass. Fish the canals use google earth to set up some spots to start. Lure wise anything big and bright. F11 rappala fire tiger is where I'm starting. Good luck and post some pics.

![]() Thanks Larry. I did read about the elusive Peacock bass. Are these canals private property or public access? It's fresh water, right? Not Brackish so I just need a fresh water license, right?

![]() Most of the canals near where I used to live in Boca Raton were a public fishing free-for-all. And those peacock bass really get mad at suspending baits!!

What's the Florida canal like? Deep? wide? fast current? I have absolutely zero idea about Florida canals. Any info would be appreciated. |

![]() Aren't there snakeheads in the canals too? I did some fishing in the canal near my mothers place in Boca without much luck (lake was better). Only advice I can offer is sight-fishing grass carp with bass lures won't bend the rod. Lol
