Question Rod recomendation

Did not know where to start this discussion so put it here.
Got a call from the wife of a friend looking for a xmas gift.
Rod that can be used for cod on a party boat.
7 1/2 handle 12-16 oz price 100-200.
I know custom Is out so off the rack

I have to agree with those who mentioned the Fish Poison rods. In my opinion there is no better value. I build my own rods but had a cod rod built by Kevin for my son a while back. You just cant beat the durability and value for the money.

You will be hard pressed not to find several Kevin Bogan rods on any given party boat. Regular fisherman, deckhands, mates and captains all use them.

I have heard so many GOOD things about Kevin, before and now.
Someone mentioned an UGLY stick, 8 ft. probably could get one ~75.00
This guy does not fish all that much and this option is economical.
