Default Passic this am

Hit a new spot today for about an hour paid off pick up 2 nice size pike. problem was has trying to lift the fish four feet up from the water. lost one that broke my the but got the bigger one up. Not bad of a fish on a ultra light rod with 4lb test. FYI my shoe size is a 12 for reference

For the number of snags alone in this river I'd go at least 20lb braid with a 20-30lb flouro leader. I run 30lb PowerPro on my Pike setup and love it. Good fish though, lets hope this rain doesn't kill the bite!

Default carp passaic river.

I have been fishing the Passaic above Dundee for Carp since May, I have only hook 3 and caught one. Lately, end of August beginning of September, nothing and I need some help. I really enjoyed the experience hooking one as I have rarely caught a fish that just ran straight away from me, and did it twice. Yes I’ve tried every bait from a dough mixture, corn, mulberry’s (in May/June), worms, artificial baits, etc. I’ve tried carp hair rigs (not the feeder though), sinker top and bottom, just got frustrated last weekend. What am I missing?

I would think there are better carp fishing waters than there (not coming from a carp fisherman), I've seen another thread on here about someone fishing out of Secaucus somewhere I think? Potash lake in Oakland, I've seen tons of carp in there in past years but haven't been there this year. You tried below Dundee falls at all?

I was thinking the same thing. People don't realize how important that slime coat is to the fish and how its inadvertant removal increases the chances of delayed mortality of the fish.

Here's a short and interesting article about fish slime:
