Default Jamaica II - weekend

After pretty good fishing Friday the weekend turned out to be pretty sluggish. All the usual excuses...strong current, swells, crappy anchoring, too little wind, too much wind...too many dogs and too many snakes....did I miss any? At least we were out fishing better than sitting home watching the boob tube!
Picked some Ling an a few Cod, Saturday was better than Sunday, nothing exciting
Mark Wilson Bristol, Pa had 18 Ling and 3 Cod(Sat)
Bill Cranston Trenton, NJ 21 Ling and 2 Cod

Weather looks crappy for Weds so we should be back on schedule Thurs thru Sunday 5am-5pm

Default Re: Jamaica II - weekend

Its true that the conditions (6' E swell) were sluggish on Sunday's trip (2-24), and that there were lots of dogs and snakes.

But - this is a great way to for me to thank the Captain for a solid effort! We moved from spot to spot all day and there were plenty of ling to be had. I know this as I caught 15 ling. So kudos to the crew for putting us on the meat!

It just didn't turn out that way for everyone due to poor conditions (especially after 1:00 when it was wind against tide). Another reason was the boat was loaded with lot's of Father/Son teams, and 35% of the folks on board had rental rods.

While I caught fifteen, the next best was the guy on my right with 6 ling. Guy on my left had 1, and the three guys to the left of him had 4 fish total (1 a nice bergall). Only one cod came up and that took the pool.

Not saying I am the greatest fisherman, just experienced enough to deal with poor conditions and still catch.

Lesson learned - take these posts/reports with a grain of salt. A captain isn't going to come out and tell you that his passengers that day were a bunch of landlubbers!

So thanks for a (great for me) day! Big fish fry at my house tonight!
