Default Voyager 1/10-1/11 Seabass

Hit the first wreck before sunup. Drop and set and reel action the entire time. Full boat of 32 all by 9am. Smallest keeper I had was 16inches, biggest was around 24inches. Great time on the boat and captain and mates did an outstanding job.

Thanks for the report. Did you see other boats out there? How were the dogs and blues? Bait vs jigs? Teaser or no teaser? How deep and how many ounces were you using? I brought way too heavy gear for my trip out of Cape May.

I'm heading out on the Gambler next weekend and looking to see what's working and what's not.

I went out on the Adam Bomb yesterday and did well - the post is on the other NJ fishing forum.

Much appreciated!

Pockets, I didn't see any other boats, besides commerical boats (draggers). I used rigs almost the entire day with a 12oz sinker. The ocean was a little rougher than NOAA said it would be ( early morning ) then it dropped down to 1-2 foot seas. ( I'm guessing) .. I tried jigging for a little while, but all that got me was blues and doggies. The first wreck we stopped on was FANTASTIC. After that it was a lot of doggies, small seabass, small ling, blues. Overall a heck of a great day. When I did jig I didn't use any teasers. Gold 10oz with plain hook. The depth varied anywhere from probably 125-240 feet.

I was wondering the same, any cod or pollock? Did the Capt stay out looking for some other species or did they head in after getting the sea bass limit?

Thanks Dirty - we didn't use any rigs, just jigs. Same depth. 220g silver and gold both worked well.

Much appreciated.

After everyone limited out. We went to a few other spots to try for ling, cod pollock. I saw 1 pollock. I heard there was a couple. Not sure about any cod though. I had 3 keeper porgies and heard there was others with some, but not alot overall. I did see about 20 ling. Not sure how many overall though.
