Default Piking - 10/18

Got out for a few hours and managed to get 13 pike up to 27". Got a few on buzzbaits but most on slow-retrieved spinnerbaits - like really s-l-o-w. All fish were in basically stagnant to nearly still water near structure(logs/dropoffs). They were deep too - deeper than this summer. Water was 58F - not cold but not warm either - and gin clear. Leaves were an issue but I just steered my lures around them. Sort of like playing Frogger. lol. Very happy though to get a few before this heavy rain came through which will certainly mess up the river this weekend(its already up a foot).

Some other notes:

Saw one Osprey

Even with the water being so clear, I saw very few fish other than a sunny here and there. Even the baitfish schools were awol.

Mosquitoes are still active.

Weedbeds in the water are dying or already dead.

Lots and lots of deer - some nice bucks too. Hunting is not permitted where I was and i think the deer know this. lol
