The sporty conditions didn't deter my 10 y/o grandson Brandan on his first ever shot at tog. While his younger brother Brayden slept most of the day and their Dad agreed to chum for us, eek: Brandan had half of the 2 dozen caught. I showed him how to prep and hook a crab and later how to use a j-hook to shake em off the hook and I never had to touch his pole the whole day. Can't be any prouder. He didn't want to come in. Took our limit of roasters and crusied home on a nice following sea. My favorite quote I heard was "I didn't know they could pull so hard"

This is my most favorite type of report to read on NJFishing.
This, and Hailey's first tog report from D-rod below. Nothing better than getting the kids introduced to something we as adults have all loved for many years. |
