So ... the day stared around around 515 down at my dock with my dad in keyport. Headed out towards the hook around 530 got about a half mile from the ammo pier and the engine shut off on me. Tried starting her back up nothing flywheels locked. Idk if it was bad battery connection or wat that's still a mystery at this point.(you can read about that on the boater board if u have any suggestions) but anyway I call up sea tow (best $135 I've spent on this boat) and the guy tells me 45 minutes. So we're like screw if let's drop the poles see what happens. I'm still on the phone with sea tow and my rod starts bending. Pick it up nice little 16 in fluke. Toss em back and set the rod back out. Just before I get off the phone wit this guy bang another hit this time on the teaser of my bucktail which was in the rod holder. Pick it up nice fluke just under 19 inches . 5 minutes later my dad gets a big sea Robin 2 minutes later a fluke 18 and a half. About a half hr from when sea towed confirmed we see him about a mile away. I'm bucktaling a 2 oz spro and I feel resistance I set the hook and bam rod starts bending hard drag starts screaming. I'm think it must be a big blue fish the way it was running. I got it boat side and it was a cow nose with a wing span every bit of 2 feet foul hooked . Get em in the net because spros ain't cheap lol and this thing was heavier than it looked. Every bit of 40lbs. Got my spro with em still in the net and tossed em back but it was a great fight and perfect trip considering the situation.
Learned a lesson today the easy way for once. Get a towing service because had I not had one the guy said it would of ran just under $800 and that was just from the ammo pier to keyport |

$800 sounds pretty steep....any idea why so much or is it just because they can.

Hey Rich I forget the initial charge but then i think he said $235 a hr and that's from when they leave there dock to when they get back and he said regarless if it takes 20min for him to get back its a hour minimum charge. Took him almost a hour and a half to get us so that's 2 and a half hr plus the initial. I had the insurance so I didn't ask him to break it down I was just curious of what something like that would have cost and when he said over 700 I was shockey myself

Last time I was towed in was out at the tip of the false hook and back to Leonardo, which can't be more then 5 miles and I would have been $475
![]() Pays to have insurance for sure, especially if you have one engine.

Tow insurance is a no brainer. Can't beat it for the premium.
