We all know how E10 Ethanol is tough on gasoline marine engines. It does not store well, reduces fuel economy, ruins fuel system components, it separates, absorbs water etc....
There is now a move to go from E10, a 10% blend to E15, which would make it a 15% blend. If you're like me and think this is a bad move, please click the link below and voice your concern. https://www.votervoice.net/NMMA/Campaigns/38547/Respond

Brought this up years ago here, when the topic was being thrown around in the auto industry.
Still don't think it will happen. Or I should say, it MAY happen, but E-10 will still be readily available. Manufacturers claiming their cars wont run, damage to components will happen, etc etc.

Duff - I know you are a car guy... Is it me or did the fuel ecomomy on cars drop considerably when they started selling E10?
If that's the case, I can't even imagine what it did to fuel ecomomy on boats where the engines work twice as hard.

I noticed a drastic fall in my MPG many years back in winter like starting Jan 1st for several years and continuing to this day. I'm not quite sure but I heard at a particular time each winter the start oxygenating fuel. Is the correct?

Not 100% sure I but I think I remember reading that producing a gallon of ethanol is more damaging to the environment than a gallon of gas and requires more energy to make than it returns.

I was an auto tech for years.. Ethanol is 40% less efficient than gasoline... In other words, if you get 20 mpg in a car on 1 gallon of gasoline, you will only get 12 mpg on straight ethanol... So yes, you will get a mile or two a gallon less on 10% ethanol/gasoline , because 10% of the fuel in your tank has a 40% loss of efficiency.. I hope that makes sense... bob

What we need to do is fight an even bigger fight and push for non ethanol gas to be sold at all marine stations. It is possible many states below the mason dixon line sell it as recreational non ethanol gas or just as marine fuel. I say it should be sold everywhere because ethanol fuels do not give you the fuel economy and cause many engine issues. If anyone knows how to get this started I am willing to do whatever I can to help. How nice would it be to be able to fill boat with non ethanol. No more costly treatment additives etc. No more issues with ethanol.
Dennis Pm me if you want to go this route
