~*~ And time for another night report on the RV ~*~
Never seems to be able to make it out there in the early morning hours but it will happen one of those days when I will magically get the flu the night before so I can call out sick. But for now just night time fishing from the shore so will keep on posting updates. Time fished: 7:30 pm till 11 pm Bait Used: Powerbait and shiners Method: Slip sinker rigs and slip bobbers. Place: Fished around Ranger Cove area then back to Ranger Boat Launch Before the update just wanted to say thanks for the folks at Effingers. Had a bad experience with glowsticks for bobber awhile back and the guys went reach out for me here and went out their way to make it up for it. Thank you. Now on with report. Weather was perfect. Full moon, clear skies and no wind. Perfect night for fishing. Well at least that's the way I saw it. Lots of action on the shiners and some action on the powerbait but have not been able to get them for some reason. Around 8:15 finally managed to get me a smallmouth but it had no weight to it so went right back in. Probably reported me back to his buddies because after that action died out for awhile. Picked up again around 9:30 but still no luck. Everytime I was just about to leave, fish kept on biting. Then around 10:30 finally got the hit I was waiting for. Bobber goes down and its fish on. Rod is bending over and I know this is it, this is what I been coming down here for. See the bobber in a water going right then changing direction and literally flying to the left with incredible speed. I know its either a pike or pickerel or maybe even a muskie. Watching with wide open eyes at the power of the fish and just not thinking about anything else I forgot to let my line go. Pop goes the weasel and so does my line with my fish. Line was broken like it was nothing. And for the next 10 minutes just sat there watching at the water speechless. Fish and learn all I can say. Second highlight of the night was pickerels coming to about 5 feet from the shore. Was able to see them but couldn't get them to commit. To sum up. One fish and fish of the night lost. Still better than working. Yours Truly, Andre |
