Shannons in califon has a so-so selection....The fly-fishing show at the begining of the month would have been your chance for multiple fly shops in one location....

If you know specifically what you need, arts and craft stores can be the best and most affordable....I've spent thousands and thousands on fly tying equipment and materials from fly shops....Some of the best bulf purchases are from craft stores.....now days your best selection will be online threw fly shops...Look at online fly shops and try to match what you need at a craft store...but if your anything like me, you will want to see and or feal the material in hand before purchasing....The best area with multiple shops is in the catskills....The beaverkill angler and catskill flies are both in Roscoe and have online stores...

Wink Re: Fly tying equipment

Good point!! forgot about effingers...They actualluy have a better fly tying and fly fishing , more than there bass gear...they also have a good saltwater selection...I'm just ALWAYS disappointed in there choice of bass tackle, therefore i only go there bout once a year....

Once a month they also have fly tying demonstrations done by some central jersy TU members...gr8 for beginners who want to tyr there own hair jigs forr smallies

are you fly tying just for fun?

i was getting into it myself, until a guide pointed out that between all the equipment and consumables, it doesn't save any money to tie flies yourself these days. with hundreds of different patterns available at any fly shop, i wasn't coming up with my own magic new stuff or anything, so i just buy them and spend more time fishing or doing other stuff anymore. my 2 cents.

Cabela's on-line - you can't beat the price and they deliver within a couple of days. Shannon's and Effingers are OK but both have a limited supply of material - and their capes can be expensive. Cabela's offers many of their own brands - not the same quality but pretty good.
