Default Mahi and more! 9-3-25

With the forecast calling for light winds yesterday I decided to take a trip to the edge of the MH and hit some pots for Mahi and whatever else was there. Once we hit the tip off the hook big surprise decent size rollers with a chop. I was going to take a 20 plus mile trip to some numbers that produced big Mahi's for me before but I had to hit plan "B". Went straight out past 17 and hit some pots. Very clean water and huge sea turtles everywhere! Fishing was picky at best but we did get a half dozen chickens and a nice sized Spanish Mac. It started to get a bit dicey out there so we went inshore hit a few numbers for Fluke and caught a few keepers and called it a day. I tell you spot lock is game changer for fishing the pots. Lock next to to pot and cast away. very nice. I must say I have "Mahi Fever" now and will try to get out there again asap! Tight lines

Thanks for the report and very envious of boats with spot lock, it’s a game changer for sure…

Yep , I even went to the dark side lol
Mounted it up on Sunday , finished all the wiring and battery install Monday .
Will be good for many applications . But will make wreck fishing solo way safer than me setting and pulling anchor alone

The force is strong in you 😎 Not having to waste time figuring out how you’re going to lay on anchor only for it to change with switch of wind or current plus being able to do some quick drops to check different areas without having to anchor..

I think the auto pilot mode will be great for easy trolling eels also .
Set it and forget it . No more bumping motors in and out

Spot lock is definitely a game changer in many fishing situations from slow trolling, anchoring, no drift and also slow down a too fast drift. But it's a expensive option. I found some good sales on motor and battery so it took the sting out a bit, BTW I have my old wreck anchor and anchor ball for sale "Cheap" in the classified on NJFishing. HMU if interested. I'll pretty much give it away. Tight lines.
