Everyone starting with a clean slate so we'll see who makes the best of all the trades and acquisitions made all Summer..... Rangers certainly tried out a lot of young players during Pre-Season and if any of our Veteran players look like they did last year, I'm hoping they bring up some of these kids to replace them and not "hope" they'll get their game back.... Rangers have no standout stars so it's going to be a Team Effort if they want a winning season... I'm def excited to get it going tonight!!

Devils fan for 20 something years here. I never liked the idea of "rebuilding". But have to admit, I think the Devils could have a promising future based on some of the talent they have. Just need to put it all together.

I'm a realist, so I'm not saying this is their year. Lots of young guys - they had 2 teenagers start last night for the first time in over 28 years. Something Lamarillo never "allowed".

Either way, there are always some good games involving the
Devils/Rangers/Philthy, so looking forward to some hockey!

A lot of new changes and faces on a lot of the teams and going to be great rivalries this year.... so glad the season has finally started again!!! Now that my daughter is up in Mass, I might have to get tickets to see the Rangers beat Boston up there!! :D Right Duff?? ;)

Of course it's only 3 games, but the Rangers look better in these few games then they did the last couple years.... much faster, better PP and finally getting lot's of shooting chances with guys who can finally shoot the puck....

Of course another goal might have changed the outcome for the Rangers last night, but they continued to play really good and fast and just happened to go up against Jimmy Howard who had a phenomenal goaltending night....

I agree Chrisper... Hayes might wind up being trade material ..... but No team wants to take on Nash's salary especially since his performance is still mediocre, but it's killing our cap space to get anyone else at the moment.... just wish his scoring ability would kick in again but he just doesn't have the high energy that all the new guys came in with.... it's still early so I hope something happens with him soon... all in all definitely more fun watching right now!! :)

I have to admit, I was saying Ut OH, these guys are playing like last year in the 1st period, but the "New" Rangers came out in 2nd & 3rd and played like they've been the last few weeks. There certainly is a new mentality in that locker room this year... everyone is contributing and not relying on a few guys to score...I'm loving it!! :D

hahahahah.... I held back Duff since they only had their 4th string goalie in there, even though he had me scratching my head during that 1st period... When guys are hurt, the other team must take advantage of it and win those games, cause it comes down to just 1 or 2 pts at the end of regular season. Rangers had a lot of injuries last season and it ended their season early.

Rangers are off to a good start and new additions have made a big difference with veterans knowing their jobs were on the line if they didn't get their ass in gear!! and it's worked!!!

Now down to 7 defensemen with McIlrath going on waivers this morning... thank god management is FINALLY getting away from average players just cause they can fight.... and going with speed and SCORING!!!

loss to Carolina was disappointing cause the Ranger played really well and at times so damn fast out there BUT too many missed opportunities to bury the puck....Zibanejad missed 2 that should've been in..... Zuc was the only one finding the back of the net with no problem.. :(

You Ain't Kidding BD.... the last 2 games are nothing short of AMAZING how well the Rangers are playing.... playmaking, passing, speed, takeaways, goaltending and PP have all come together and it sure makes watching SO MUCH FUN!!! A little bit of a sluggish start last night for the Rangers but AV tweeked the lines and the boys got the job done again....I think Hayes realized he might be trade material this Summer and got his game back on, and along with Miller, they're doing Great!! It seems that with so many guys contributing, the pressure is off Nash and his game has gotten much better then last year. Grabner has certainly been a pleasant surprise too... it's been a total team effort taking the pressure off just a few guys and it's working!!

Another Great Team Effort from the Rangers last night.... 5 goals on 19 shots against a Hot Goalie... 4th game in a row with at least 5 goals.. AMAZING JOB SO FAR!! Raanta is looking like a #1 goalie to me..... I know it's still early, but I'm loving it!! :D

Yeah Duff... I heard about McIlrath yesterday..... he just doesn't fit into the speed of the Ranger team now and it looks like the league is slowly getting away from average players who can fight.. we have 4 lines who have shown they can all contribute to the speed and scoring the Rangers are looking for. Hopefully, he'll get the chance to play more with Florida because the Rangers weren't doing anything for his confidence to keep bringing him up and down from Hartford or sitting in the Press Box..

I'm already bored not having any Ranger games this week and I never make it staying up for West Coast Games... :(

Now about AV. WTF is playing with the lines for? Splitting up Kreider Buchnevich and Zinbanejad as well as Nash Veesey Stepan is crazy. You are 10 and 4. Relax. Veesey played seconds in the 3rd period against Vancouver. Don't mess with this kids head like we did with Krieder.

I know what you mean Dales... AV doesn't show emotions too easily and uses mental abuse to try and get his way.... compared to the other end of the spectrum and use physical abuse like Torts always did....

I know he shortened the lines a few games ago and it worked to get them jumpstarted, but I think this time it was a personal embarrassment to him, the whole team playing bad against his old team and being the 1st team they beat after losing 9 straight games!!

Hopefully, they'll come back for a strong road trip, and whip Vancouver next week!!

I understand your feelings Chrisper....I hated Mike Keenan back in 94 cause he was such a Tyrant, but they won the cup... Ever since then I've resigned to the fact that it doesn't matter if I like the coach or not, but who's coaching philosophy meshes with the Team Roster that particular year. I've seen a lot of coaches come and go since I started watching the Rangers in 1965 and I've learned that it don't mean anything if I like the coach or not as long as they bring out the talent in the team they inherit..

Bad news was way too many Ranger mistakes last night and it looked like Tortarella knew exactly how to counter our game plan and won the game..

I hate to say it but Nash is a non-factor in games anymore... every goalie knows he shoots exactly the same shot, from the same place and they have no problem routinely blocking his shots.... :(

Oh Well... another disappointing loss last night in a game the Rangers should've won, but they reverted to last year's problem of Passing & Passing until they turnover the puck. What happened to the 5 goal games already? Nash is becoming more mediocre each game and Hank should've stopped 3 of the 4 goals and looked emotionless most of the game. Finally get Jooris back and now Zibanejad is gone a couple months... :(

FANTASTIC comeback last night in Pitt!!! :D Slow start but next 2 periods were stellar!!! Grabner has been on fire, along with Hayes and Miller... Defense was amazing shutting down all their shooters and Raanta is looking more like our #1 goalie every game he plays. And back to another 5 goal game is AMAZING especially against Pitt!! Must keep up the winning attitude tomorrow when Pitt comes to NY..

Hate to say it Split but waayyy to much messing with the line combinations by AV. Yeah we had a couple injuries and players are saying the right things about everyone being on the same page, it doesn't matter who you play with but it DOES! Veesey on right wing WHY? JT benched against Columbus WHY? Different lines every other shift. Go back to what works and stay with it good or bad. Ship is far from sinking to mess with these young guys heads this early

Absolutely right Dales.... we're already over a 1/4 way into the season ... these guys get conditioned to make split second decisions what to do with the puck in all situations.... and when you move the guys around and play with different players, they have to think too long what to do and the other team gets that extra second to steal the puck.... which is whats happening out there.

Keep the lines together that were working, spend more time perfecting the PP and getting around a clogged neutral zone!!! :)

To put it in fishing terms, the Rangers stunk it up against the Islanders last night... Their 2 goals were both nice but the rest of the game is starting to look like last year.... the constant mixing up of lines is starting to take a toll... AV said they practiced PP and PK on Monday... well, either the teacher or students didn't do too good a job as we saw last night :mad: And now losing Nash with Groin injury and Puempel with concussion, we'll be getting more line changes!! Ughhh!! Very Frustrating!!

Thanks for stopping in Bill...after they called the Subban trade the worst trade in history, it turns out to be working with Montreal in 1st place most of this season already. When I first heard of a possibility that he might be on the trading block, I was hoping the Rangers would try and get him since they could've used a great setup man. Pretty cool you're able to get up there every year.

Last night was an amazing game against Chicago... I've been saying Raanta has been playing like a #1 goalie and last night showed it.. he was as good as it gets frustrating all their shooters.. :D

Race is sooooo tight 1/3 the way into season, it's like we're in April already.. Very exciting!!

Not taking anything away from Montreals good play, but Colorado has really been sucking wind... they're in a tailspin and need a complete makeover.... just don't have the stars like they used too...

Anyway, it was a fun night to be a Ranger fan with Raanta giving another stellar performance with back to back shutouts...:) looked like Devils were half asleep throughout the game :confused:

Absolutely not, especially when you compare what Kreider did in the playoffs a few years ago. The fact was Price thought he was interfered with on the first Devils goal. I was quite surprised to see him react like that. Refs on ice gave him a double minor (warranted)---not a 5 min major/match "attempt to injure", and the league agreed.

Problem was the rest of the team couldn't score for crap against a mediocre team in the standings.... Rangers better start Shooting practice 101 before they go up against the top teams soon.

Rangers stuck to their game plan last night and came up with a nice 2 pts. I was waiting for Flyers to play their usual banging everyone game but it never happened.... Hank was unbelievable and kept us in the game until we started to score... I don't know how he missed their 2nd goal though.... no one was even blocking his view :confused: but it didn't matter in the end... Hayes was determined to score last night... never even smiled after scoring.... knew he better start scoring again and he did it!! Right now Pirri is disappointing me since I was excited about getting a pure shooter that the Rangers were missing... he started preseason and reg season on fire but has not found his shot in quite a while now... hopefully he gets his form back soon!!

Nice comeback against Columbus last night, but did any of you guys notice the 4-1-2 seven game road trip by the Habs, including two back-to-back OT wins?
With seven regulars out: Galchenyuk, Gallagher and Desarnais all out for 2 months each, plus Flynn, Shaw, Pateryn and Markov. Max Pat and Weber heating up again but the MVP's this year have been Radulov, with his puck handling skills and passing ability, and of course, a healthy Carey Price, who wins again on another Saturday night.

Looking forward to the second half of the season.

After traveling 11,000 miles on 7 game road trip, Habs pull a stinker at home against the Caps. Three point night for Ovechkin. Caps now 21-2-2 in last 25 vs Montreal. MT didn't have the troops ready; at least the $12 Million dollar man Tomas Plekanec scored his fourth goal to ruin the shutout by Holtby.

A stinker indeed, but Wild are 15-1-1 in their last 17. My friend has a second home in Bradenton and had center ice seats to the Lightning game last night, where they retired Martin St. Louis number. A well deserved ceremony.

Rangers losing to Leafs 4-2 last night. Not sure which team will come out more pissed tonight. Last year, I drove 6-7 hours each way to Montreal only to see the AHL Baby Habs lose 5-2 to the Blueshirts. At least the Habs might finally be getting Galchenyuk, Markov and Shaw back in the lineup.

Montreal just finished a 7 game road trip (and 9 out of 10) away as the World Junior Championships were at the Bell Center, covering over 11,000 miles. They have another West Coast trip in Feb. and play their final five games of the season on the road. I'm sure other teams besides them and Toronto are affected this year with the scheduling.

Congratulations Bill on the Habs perseverance and coming out with the Win last night....Rangers went into LaLa Land for 1 minute and 3 goals go in before they woke up... when I saw Lundqvist go out to the net after the 1st period my jaw dropped... I'm hoping Raanta is not too hurt because Hank has been too iffy this whole year so far..... but it certainly was an entertaining game!!

Thanks Split. There were many Maalox moments from the game. Habs come back three times from one-goal deficits, allow a PP and SH goal, kill off a 5 minute (interference?)major, and on short end of all goal challenges.

Habs need Pateryn (knee) and Markov (groin) to return asap on defense. Not sure if Price is hurt again, but he's not himself. Toughest part of the night for me was having to listen to homers Sam Rosen and Joe Nicoletti.

They have medication for that mid-season Blueshirts depression. Obviously Henri has lost his confidence but even Carey Price isn't putting up "Price-like" numbers this year. They lost 1-0 Mon in Detroit; this rookie is now 5-1-1. Habs running into tough teams lately: Caps, Wild and Pens tonight.

This was a bad time for Raanta to get hurt... hoping he comes back SOON and 100% ready to go!! We were so used to Hank bailing out the Rangers all these years when the team was only playing mediocre .... now that he's finally going through a funk period, the defense or lack of it, has failed to pick up the slack and goals going in left and right from a lot of guys that hardly ever score. It's time for the coaches to earn their money :)

Defense was the backbone of the Rangers and needs an overhaul real fast to get back in the Win column :D

Wow, you guys are hardcore, I thought I was bad. Wouldn't jump ship just yet, better to be slumping now than in March and April. Hank on the other hand is a concern for sure. I really didn't expect a Defense this year, we stayed old and let our best puck mover go. The young gun offense carried us from the start and once we have everyone back from injuries it will all go back to offense. May have to score 8 to win lol.
Relax lots of hockey to go although the metropolitan is the best division in hockey now so we do need to keep pace.

Last night felt good again seeing Hank making key saves and Girardi really playing well on D Need to keep it going with all wins before All Star Break and we'll be right up in the running again. Injuries been hurting for sure breaking up the lines every week... you can see how much better they've been, getting Nash, Z and Buch back . WE CAN DO IT!!! :D

Take him to as many Devs games as possible. Easy access for us and I park in Newark for free. He loves his team and I just love watching hockey regardless who plays, so it's a win-win.

Skills comp was good. Mike smith shot was unreal and watching Conner Mcdavids speed was unreal!!! Should be a fun afternoon today.

Congrats Bill on Habs pulling it off last night.... and BOOOOOOO to the Rangers who started out looking like they came to play but couldn't finish any effort the entire 1st period....:mad: 2nd period our defense decided they wanted to play like this was the All-Star Game and could care less.... finally start putting the puck in during 3rd after Columbus let up figuring they had it wrapped up!!

Unlike Vigneault, who rarely strays from his middle of the road emotion, the rest of the team go UP DOWN UP DOWN like a lie detector needle on the graph. I'm tired of the sad faces on the after game interviews.... WAKE UP ALREADY!! You can't play with emotion for 20 min a game and think you're gonna win!!

All the teams who know they need to start getting points won last night except the Rangers and on HOME ICE!! Vigneault said he's never been more driven then right now, but it sure doesn't trickle down to the players, that's for sure!!

Yeah.. I'm pissed caused we're almost 2/3 into the season and this team still can't execute consistently..... like BD says, something is going on behind the scenes cause they just can't be this bad after 50 games together....

THE GOOD: Turned into a Great Game last night, both goalies were excellent, lot's of hitting, good defense and coming out with an OT WIN!! :D

And now THE BAD: IT WAS AGAINST THE LAST PLACE TEAM IN THE EAST!!! and we were close to losing if it wasn't for Hank playing his best game of the season!! Again we pepper their goalie right from the getgo and can't bury a single puck in the net :rolleyes:

Habs are 0-11-1 in their last 12 games in Philly...about as bad as their records as when they play in San Jose, Anaheim, and Minnesota..maybe worse.

Avs nabbed Barbierio off waivers. At least Nesterov scored for his new team.

Back-to-back day games this weekend at the Bell Center against Washington and Edmonton. I drove up there many times over the years this particular weekend for the hockey doubleheader. Would hit the go-go bars on St. Catherine street at night. Driving home, my friend Stu and I would listen to the Super Bowl on the radio. Great times!

Popped up on my phone at 830 today!!! Mixed feelings. Hate to see the guy go. IMO a very good coach. Brought us back the Cup after a LONG time. Honestly don't think he will be unemployed very long.

All that being said, I've read and heard the locker room isn't on the same page. I knew when Sweeney took over as GM Claude's days were numbered as well.

Just hoping the change lights a fire under their asses. The defense sux but the offense is pretty damn good. If they can find the net more consistently and maybe add a def piece? No means a cup team but certainly a playoff worthy team.

Av shuffles lines like a black jack dealer, team gets in a funk every time Hank lets in 1 per 3 shots ( been much better lately though) No cups to his record and gets a 2 year extension. I like the guy but just wonder some times.

Look at Bruce Broudeau, started one of the best Garden chants of "can you hear us" while with the Caps (even had OV laughing on the bench) but was cast off to the Ducks and have to say Caps are a better team since then so who knows Duff maybe better times are coming for your B's

Need to unload Girardi on the right side but could be difficult with his age, salary and probably no trade clause...possibly Shattenkirk but I'm sure we'd have to sweeten the deal with another player or upcoming player who we really don't want to trade away... we really need to find some obscure player, who will fit right into that slot and be able to get the job done, and with little cap hit!! :rolleyes: Should be interesting!! :)

Habs look just awful lately, losing to the league worst Av's 4-0. Shut out in two straight games. Last night, a 2-0 lead turns into a 3-2 deficit in just three minutes, as Carey Price does his best Henrik Lundquist impression from Jan.Luckily, Chucky wins it in OT as Max Pat has a 4 point night, but Price is not playing at all like an All-Star goalie this season. Is his knee hurt again?

No excuses but Habs have lost 171 man games to injuries with 18 players spending time out of the lineup---Caps lost only 19 man games with 6 players.

Biggest thing this team lacks is a true center---Galchenyuk (2 G in last 13),
Plekanec (1 G in last 11), Danault (1 G in last 12), Mitchell (2 G in last 44), and David Desharnais, Michel T's favorite boy (1 G in his last 12). It's gotten so bad that Habs fans are saying "The only DD's they want to see in Montreal are at the Chez Paree strip club off St. Catherine Street.

Habs lose again (1 win in their last 6), Blues win 4 in a row and 5 out of 6 since coaching change. Losing to Jake Allen??? Wasn't this guy almost jettisoned last month? It didn't help that career backup Al Montoya lost an edge on the first goal. And worse...Blueshirts win again by the same 4-2 score tonight.

Now they travel to Boston tomorrow (Bruins also hot since firing Claude Julien).
Their four day mandatory break can't come soon enough...fire Therrien now!!

Even though the Rangers came out like gangbusters in the 1st last night (and still could only sink 1 goal), forgot to show up for the 2nd period, they came back to play strong in the 3rd, sweep the 4 game homestand, get another 2pts, and finally get the big 400th win for Hank!! Yayyyyyy!! :D

Again, they make 30th place Colorado, look better then their stats show :confused:

Really good to see Klein get his offense going last night cause that's been missing all season and could really help in this final stretch.... anyway, I went to bed a happy camper!!:)

Vegas is talking to all the recently fired coaches, and I think they've already eliminated Ken Hitchcock, but might be interested in Julien or Capuano They're looking for an experienced NHL coach at this point... I hate the rule that teams have to give up a player when there's a new team joining the league... I say if you want to start a team, then build it from scratch!! Just my view :(

Well Duff, it's about time Rask finally won a game against the Habs. Not tough to do right now, as they're sinking faster than the Titanic, with three SO in their last five games. Fire Michel Therrien and bring back Claude Julien.

That was a Great Win last night and gives the guys a lot of confidence... love that different guys score each game, but our Top Scorers need to get hot right about now .... Raanta playing that well after a 6 week hiatus was Fantastic..

Went from 4th place to 3 way tie for 2nd has got to get the adrenaline flowing in the lockeroom and get ready for a tough physical game Thurs against Islanders.

Getting the PP going again has got to be #1 priority right now and I'm sure the scouts are looking for a new quarterback to help:) Less passing/more shooting might help ;)

Yessserrie BD!! Hayes went through a transformation last Summer and has lifted his game beyond expectations... I know he was on the Short List for trades last Spring and I think that WOKE HIM UP!! And it worked!!

Glad Girardi scored cause all he gets is bad press but still makes some good D moves and never scared of blocking shots..

And finally kudos to Vesey with almost an impossible shot to score the winner because he's been extremely frustrated not being able to bury the puck lately, and hopefully gets his confidence back..

Playing Caps at 12:30 which we typically suck at day games. Having said that I like our chances if Holtby plays as we can get to him at home. We have a harder time against the backup goalies!

Even though all the commentators sugar-coated last nights game as well played by both teams and Islanders just happened to get the 2 pts, I disagree... the 1st 2 Islander goals were off Ranger mistakes :rolleyes:...

I expected a BANGIN' game and there was hardly a bump!! Sorry... but Rangers didn't want the win bad enough is the way I saw it.... almost 3/4 through season and still can't figure out a Power Play, couldn't do anything but "pass around" as usual, on their 4 on 3 and again NONE of our top scorers can find the net!!

I do have to say that first pass from Zuc to Holden for the 1st goal was beautiful and thought that would set the tone, but as it turns out, it didn't :(

I'm off to the Woodworking Show in Somerset today and be at Surf Day tomorrow at Brookdale U. Looking forward to Caps on Sunday!! :D

Was a good feeling coming back from the Islander game and beating the Caps on a Sunday afternoon!! I loved it!! :D A well earned important 2pts. Need intense practice going forward on that PP because Hank can't be a magician every game :)
