Been a good year so far for me. Did well jigging before the ice in January for Walleye and Crappie on the state's big lakes. Shifted to the rivers in February and March and had some banner days. One nice three week stretch where the Pike were AVERAGING over 30" with most in the 33"-36" range, nice double digit days. Landed nice Pike to 36", Smallies to 18", Carp and even a 21" river Walleye. Then turned our attention to the Striper run and we wacked them on topwater lures in 45 degree water with double and triple headers, my buddies killing it too. Ice out came and started nailing Crappie and Yellow Perch with a surprise juvenile Muskie kayak style. Pike died down, temps warmed and got my a$$ back to the big lakes for Walleye, Hybrids and the latest, my best catch of the year 45" Muskie. Can't wait to see what the next 6 months hold, hopefully a few more personal bests.
Anyone else?

My year started off great on the ice with almost 50 pike in the first 2 weekends including a few over 36", the fattest pike I've caught at 35" and almost 16lbs, and my new PB 43". It slowed down after that when I started trying to catch muskie. I put in well over 100 hours with only a handful of fish to show for it and no monsters, but I did manage to get 1 nice looking 37" tiger. I ended my ice season where I started up in New England. My first day out I landed a 36" pike and I was actually able to fish the same lake IN APRIL and pulled out a 37" fish my final weekend.

This carp season has been the worst I've had in years but definitely one of the most fun. It's been fun because I've shared the bank with dozens of great fisherman. I've brought some NJFers to my spots and witnessed 4 people catch their PB freshwater fish. Dale was first with his 20lb+ beast, then Chris with a 30 on his first day carp fishing, then Ogy with his PB 30.5 pounder, and last but not least my buddy Mike from CT with a 49.5 pound grass carp just a few pounds shy of the NJ record!

My carp season has been filled with ups and downs. The last week in April and first few days in May were the best. I caught well over 100 carp in about a week including 5 30s. The biggest was 38.14lbs and the big 4 went for 136.10lbs. After the first week in May I had to deal with the rain, car problems, and the spawn so fishing hasn't been good of late. I still have caught over 300 carp this year averaging around 15lbs with almost 50 over 20lbs so I can't complain. I even caught a few decent channel cats including one over 10lbs, but I caught over a hundred small ones which gets annoying when you're trying to catch carp. All in all it's been a solid year so far. Hopefully I can pull a few nice ones out the 2nd half of the year.

Beautiful colors on that 3rd one Mark. Looks like the 2nd one got grabbed by something when it was younger.

Thanks Matt. The marks on the 2nd are spawning scars. It was a post-spawn fish. The 3rd is a 42 inch girthy tiger. It has some weird thing going on with it's gills, but other than that it's a beauty. That fish popped the cherry in my boat and the fat 46 on top was #2. I've had a few other fish so far this year, but those were the first two in my boat. Some killer carp up there man. I actually haven't fished carp once this year, was too busy chasing muskies. Think I'm gonna change that next year. Muskies seem to be pretty tough in March and April, rather do some catching.

Awesome pics. My year as mostly been what constitutes bait for the fish in the pictures. lol

Other than my nice smallie on the opening day M&G I've probably cuaght more rockbass than all the other species combined. I think next weekend is the last one I have with some kind of funcition for my kids and I'll be able to get out a bit more after tha (and hoepfully the wind cooperates more than it has so far this spring, it's been brutal every time I've made it out).

I caught 1,759 fish in 94 NJ fresh water fishing trips this year. Biggest fish was 20 lb. I won 3 NJ Skillful Angler Awards for a total of 31. 8 were first place awards.

3 Tigers in 4 days on the Raritan. Not huge fish, all between 31-33 inches, but it was a blast catching these aggressive BEASTS!!!:D

So far my year has been pretty average. No banner days and not many big fish, but I usually put a decent catch together. No complaints.

Got my PB pike early this year so I can't complain. Took pretty much all spring off from trout fishing to enjoy what the passaic had to offer when I was able to get out. I love the passaic once you figure it out its an unreal smallmouth and pike fishery (carp to if that's your thing). My goals for the remainder of the year are to pick up all my firsts in walleye hybrids and musky, ohh yeah and actually catch something at monks haha.

My fishing so far this year has been far and few between. Too much time working and not enough time fishing. Of course I have to fit the wife and kids in there as well. :D I'm hoping to change that for the second half of the year. The few times I have been out I managed some LMB in the 1 - 2.5lbs range. The rest of the time I caught the skunk. :( Looking forward to the warmer months ahead. Tight lines!!

Loads of stockies since the calendar year turned to 2013. Had my first trout on January 2nd up on the Musky. Wound up with 3 browns that day. From Opening Day and on I managed tons more. Switched over to bass fishing in mid-May. I've managed to put together solid catches at Farrington and the Clark Res. More recently, I have landed about a half dozen fish over 3.5 lbs with my largest coming last week before the big rain--she was prob close to 5 lbs. (there's an earlier post with pics).

So far so good... no complaints. Havent hit the passaic as much as I'd like to and I didnt get the broody I wanted to match my 7 lb brown from Nov 2012 :p But that's fishing!

Catch em' up, fellas!

.

Doing alright. The hardest part for me is just getting the time to get out on the water. Work, family obligations, etc,; take up a lot of my weekend.

The biggest change to my fishing this year has been the purchase of my first hard shell kayak. I was using a Sevylor inflatable up until this spring. I just bought a Native Redfish 10 from the Kayak Fishing Store. I still have to get used to it, but it's been pretty good.

Here's a bass caught and released at Spruce Run last week.

Halfway through 2013, WOW, that's crazy!!! Seems like not too long ago we were on the ice craving springtime and now it's summer already! Fishing for me this year has been decent some up's , some down's but mostly good. Winter wasn't too good and didn't trout fish very much but made up for it with Largemouths, Hybrids, and Walleyes during the last couple months. We'll see where the dog days take us cause there knocking on the door. Figure it will be mostly nighttime fishing as usual till the fall which I ain't rushing for cause good things come to those who wait so we'll see!!!! Need to pull something out of my bag of tricks in a big way to up my game a bit!!!
