Any trout in any stream or lake that's been in the water for a while will have Salmon colored meat. Difference between hatchery pellets and real food in the real water!
Should of seen the three I had today, orange as a pumpkin;)

I took 2 out of the Valley last year and when I first took a North Branch stockie home the difference was disappointing come dinner time.

Also some private hatcheries use dye in the feed to produce orange colored flesh. Most of the big fish in Spring Lake have this coloration and they do taste a bit better, eventhough they are freshly stocked.

Flesh gray or white, stocked trout, I dont care to eat those,
Red or orange, wild trout, or as stated before been in stream a while, taste good, like a trout should, but please dont take too many, one or two for the table.
