Sorry should've been more specific. Anywhere from the highlands to belmar would be awesome.

Thank you

Do you need a boating license to rent a skiff? I'd love to give it a try. Never gone before so would have to go with someone who knew more than me, but think it'd be a lot of fun and I'm considering getting a small boat so this would be a cool way to test run.

Schupps landing in Highlands right next to Bahrs & Highland bridge. Can go down river or up into the bay.

You do need a Boater Safety Certificate for anything with a motor. But rental places are allowed to give you a crash course and supply you with a limited Certificate (in writing) per NJ State Police authority.

Make sense? PM is you have any questions?

Apparently shupps landing is permanently closed down. That's the place I go every year for Fathers Day. We dont do well but its tradition lol. I tried several times to get a hold of them but it always was a machine that answered back. Checked google and it states its permanently closed. Sad what happened to them. I loved it there.

To rent a boat in NJ you need to be at least 25 years old and have a valid NJ drivers license.

IMO - It is great idea to take and pass the NJ boaters safety course.

Good luck!

Perhaps that's the boat livery's rule Thats NOT the NJ State Police rule and will get you a $500 fine with a pissed off cop.

It's not an idea- its a NJ law. LOL

Schupps was great...good fishing area. It looked like rentals were available where the party boats leave in Atl. Highlands. There were lots of skiffs with motors Behind the restaurant.

Fishermen’s Den North closed down? Schupps too? How long was that there? I remember them As far back to at least The early 80’s along with Jacks rentals.

I was told by the owner of Schupps that he was selling the family owned business last year. I believe the property will be used for townhouses. Another era now gone! Tight lines!

Its a sad trend. Many marinas go away. Next to none come into existence. Only brand new marina I've seen open in decades is Cartaret owned by the City.

The old Sea Tow marina was like that in the Highlands. Maybe only 50 feet wide at the Shrewsbury River with Riparian Rights for a 200' long dock.

The buyer would pay over to $2M if he had got a variance to multi-unit residential from present commercial. As just a marina it was worth 1/3 of that. They buyers wanted the present owner to do that, in case Highlands refused the Variance application.

It's a very good retirement fund if you're willing to pay legal fees and looking to bail. Your workers... F'em! :(
