Yesterday during a full blown bluefish blitz I noticed this guy who had his 3 fish limit (on a rope) BUT was burying many more bluefish around the area he was fishing. He clearly knew about the regulations - Is there a # to call to report people who are not following the rules? BTW- very strong bluefish bite the last two days.

You can also write them an e mail when you get home and describe in as much detail as you can, a little after the fact but every bit helps.

There is a MUCH bigger problem than this going on. There are people taking multiple government pensions. I don't agree with this bluefish law as snapper fishing probably saved my life as a youth. There really needs to be investigations and laws on the books for these pension poachers and thieves. They don't take a few extra fish a couple of times a year...they bilk the system for 25 years and much more.
Please keep things in perspective!!

Video them, the fish, their car, and their boat.
Without evidence of the overcatch the F&G guys can only talk to them.
I have a F&G Investigators cell # on my speed dial. Pictures & videos memorialized.

If they were burying fish I doubt they had a permit.
And no one is above the law. We don’t choose the laws we want to follow. That is anarchy.

This email stream should be about what a terrible law this is and how we should remove the people who put this law into place. It hurts kids who used to love snapper fishing and kept them out of trouble and happy doing something good. This law was created by "adults" who enjoy taking good things away from children. This is a shame and the creators of these horrible laws should be brought to account. It's time to expose them and get them out of our government so that kids can be kids again and maybe those "adults" can get a real job and a real life.

So this is a good question....what do we do about people who Poach hundreds of thousands of dollars from the system by stealing a kids right to bring home a dozen snappers for his family for dinner.
I say, expose those pension poachers, get them out of those jobs which promote fake science and misery for everyone else.
By the way, pension guys go fishing far more often and take far more fish than working guys. You take way too much and give way too little.

I too think it’s an absurd law but the law nonetheless. Absolutely go after the nudnicks that wrote it!

Call him out and tell him NO too many! Pull out ur phone and point in his direction that's how to put a stop to it, and or at least call. This is a major problem all over the bay shore! That person does that to everything they catch every time they fish until caught. I can give up a few snappers for fluke if I don't have to see trash bags of blues in the sun an stupid monkeys grinning. Still catch all ya want.

In my opinion, there might not be decrease in the bluefish or striper population.
At the scoping meetings, I asked where the NMFS does its sample trawls for bluefish. I was told "around the eastern end of Long Island Sound" When asked what about if the fish moved further north or east, how do you factor them into the total biomass to get a reasonably true estimate of the total population--no answer. I'm sure that the same applies to stripers. Commercial and tuna fishermen stated that the offshore and canyon areas were loaded with bluefish and stripers.
Apparently NMFS determines what they what the quota is to be and uses minimal of data from either trawls or surveys to obtain the end result. I always thought their method was flawed, attending the scoping meets just reinforced my belief.
Once lose it, we will never get it back!!!

I use every bluefish I catch...I smoke them, pickle them, can them and eat them fresh....just because you don't like them doesn't mean the whole world needs to not like them or use them. Are you the king of the seas that we all like and do what you want us to? What if I don't like fluke? I guess I should fight to make fluke illegal and mandatory for everyone to keep 20 blues?
Americans have enough of this me me me me and the hell with you attitude. It is offensive, wrong and destroying civilization.....stop being so damn selfish at the expense of everyone else. I am 99% sure that many of you guys fish 50 more times a year than I can. Maybe it should be mandatory that you can only fish 4 times a year like I do so you don't hurt, kill or keep so many fish like you do.

Your reasoning is absurd. Laws are laws, follow them or do something to change them.
And if someone works enough to earn 2 pensions good for them. Maybe you need a vacation to spend some time fishing so you can relax a little!!!

Not sure what compelled you to hi jack a post with something unrelated to fishing ??? It has me asking myself if your agenda is to serve and protect your own thoughts / feelings regarding an unrelated issue to fishing.... Please with all due respect, lets leave unrelalated distorted personal views on the side lines. I am sure everyone would appreciate it. Be well....
