Default tuna bait

Found something new at "ASSI", the Asian super market up here, couldn't resist picking up a pack of 4. Something called "red mullet". Brined & baking soda added. Now frozen in mixture. We shall see how/if they work along with the "round scads" which are a proven bait. No sardines so far but September is still a ways away.

They are found in the Eastern Atlantic from Scandinavia south to Senegal, the Mediterranean and Black Sea. They're considered an excellent food fish, tasting like shrimp. Don't think, no, I know I wouldn't eat the ones I bought. Hope the tuna don't feel the same...

Chuckie, I hope they work. Do you see any Tinker Mackerel at the market? DW Bob swore by them. The two or three times we caught them offshore we did well on the tuna. One year DW Bob ordered them from California.

Yea Pete, I'm hoping also. Only saw gutted & filleted Bostons @ the store. No sardines yet, either but there's still time. I remember Drywall using them also. I hope that tropical/sub-tropical "ANA" isn't a portent of things to come...
See you on board...
