If you use 1/32 oz jigs on 2 lb test fluorocarbon line you will catch many fish.

Have you tried under RT4 by the old Mill or Dunker Hook area or Rodgewood Duck Pond area when it’s getting dark have caught trout all year their spring thru even winter also just below the Rail road crossing in Rochelle Park where the state record Rock Bass was caught have caught trout their all year

Used to live in SB have caught trout all year spring thru winter just below Rail road bridge RP where state record Rock Bass was caught also walk way directly under RT 4 have caught trout bass striped bass need net with extension to get fish over the railing Dunker Park various pools up to water fall Hohokus Crek behind Ridgewood High School little water fall area enjoy your adventures

You might want to try the Saddle river above Ridgewood if you are looking for Trout. 2lb test will definitely get you more bites but I have had some heartbreaking losses on bigger fish. Good luck and keep at it.

Cool UPDATE first day out - totally new to fishing !

i promised to update and update i shall

FINALLY POPPED THE BUBBLE THIS MORNING

i feel like im still buzzing haha

was in ridgewood with trout magnets, got a few bites before i landed this guy, and shortly after his smaller sunny friend

thanks again for the tips from everyone, TOTALLY hooked and will probably end up going out more times than not for the rest of the year =D

Awesome! I started going after trout this year too and have caught a small handful, still haven't been able to limit out on one trip, but I typically catch one every time I go.

Pro-Tip, look for powerbait honey worms, they can be fished in the exact same fashion as a trout magnet, but as they're scented I personally seem to get more bites on them.
