Raystown Lake
Has anybody fished this body of water in Pa? Does it have pike? I'm think about trying it this summer. I have a kayak but I see they rent boats. Which would be better? Thanks in advance.

Re: Raystown Lake
It's a little over 4 hours from NJ. They have pulled stripers out of this lake that weighted over 50 lbs! It's 8300 acres that stretches over 27 miles. Max depth is 200 feet.

Re: Raystown Lake
Fished there many years ago during the summer by canoe. The Stripers were holding bottom in the deep of the lake . Was downrigger material only. Not much else plugging the shallows. A good topo chart and some local info is highly advisable.

Re: Raystown Lake
Thanks for the info Archer. I plan on doing my kayak. You mentioned you used your canoe. Did you feel safe out there in it? How was the boat traffic on the lake?

Re: Raystown Lake
Famous for hybred striped bass. Usually caught at the rocks at the northern end. They use model motor boats with release clips to take the bait to the fish as the dam is off limits. Buoys used as boundary markers. Nice and cheap camping grounds.
