Default Manasquan Beat Down

Went out late the other afternoon last minute with my son for a couple hours of bassfishing at the Squan. Since I only live a few minutes from the place and have only fished it this year one other time needed to wet a line with my boy. Since my son plays college baseball, this year didn't leave us much time to get in the other sport we love so much. Hooked up the tin boat and were on the lake in 10 minutes. After trying a few summer haunts with zero luck we went to some deep isolated structure I found years ago that always holds summer fish. Less than 2 hours later our 5 best went well over 20 pounds. Place still has a ton of quality fish but you need to put your time in and not be a bank beater. If you catch any of the big girls please let them go so that others can enjoy this awesome resource we have.

After numerous trips there this year I have not landed anything like those two. I have had some luck fishing deeper grass lines but after seeing your pics I have to start looking for the deeper structure.

Herring spawn night bite along the dikes! Perhaps it's worth a shot next season!

Sadly, Manasquan Res. is CLOSED after sunset.

Even along the dikes outside of the park?
