Question Rod question

I was just reading the thread on the right lead to use for offshore sea bass etc. 16-24 oz. with that said, what type of rod is best suited for this?? I'm going in February and don't want to be caught out there with half assed equipment. I have a 7' star stellar light 17-30# and I'm thinking that may be a little light.

The rod you have will probably be ok for jigging, but I doubt it will handle the weight needed for bait fishing.

You can get a Fish Poison7' e glass HVY $155 and use it for Sea Bass, Cod and Tilefish.

I used a St. Croix Premier Musky Rods Model: PM79XXXHF (7' 9") Holds up to 16oz jigs with no problem. Beat them Giant Seabass pretty well with this rod. Bogan or a Garone rod is even better.
