Default broiled sea raven and ocean pout

i know they are as attractive as your mother in law with a hangover but trust me they are both delicious.

for the sea raven take the filets and wrap them in foil w/ some butter and put them in the broiler for 10-13 minutes. take out and enjoy

after people try it i have heard "it tastes like lobster, scallops, tilefish and monkfish. "

only way to find out is to try them you will not regret it.

as for pout i do the Exact same thing except cook it a little longer say anywhere from 13-17 minutes. taste is very mild

give them both a try as it can often make for som good dinner especially in february and march when little else wants to bite.

Thumbs up Re: broiled sea raven and ocean pout

good to see others take advantage of sea ravens, i find them to be very good, kind of a treat since i've only caught one, and that was many years ago. as for pout- i like to grill them, the meat is pretty firm and holds up well, just stay away from the belly meat as that can be pretty strong tasting. for grilling -in a bowl put some olive oil and your favorite spice blend (cajun of steak mix) add pout in portion sizes (make sure to pat dry the fillets first). marinate for a couple of hours or overnight, grill on med-high heat (be carefull of the flame ups) - enjoy

Is sea raven the same as sea robin? Because I've heard some people say that sea robin tail can be close to lobster if done right.

The meat on a sea raven is close to a monk fish.
