broiled sea raven and ocean pout
i know they are as attractive as your mother in law with a hangover but trust me they are both delicious.
for the sea raven take the filets and wrap them in foil w/ some butter and put them in the broiler for 10-13 minutes. take out and enjoy after people try it i have heard "it tastes like lobster, scallops, tilefish and monkfish. " only way to find out is to try them you will not regret it. as for pout i do the Exact same thing except cook it a little longer say anywhere from 13-17 minutes. taste is very mild give them both a try as it can often make for som good dinner especially in february and march when little else wants to bite.

Re: broiled sea raven and ocean pout
good to see others take advantage of sea ravens, i find them to be very good, kind of a treat since i've only caught one, and that was many years ago. as for pout- i like to grill them, the meat is pretty firm and holds up well, just stay away from the belly meat as that can be pretty strong tasting. for grilling -in a bowl put some olive oil and your favorite spice blend (cajun of steak mix) add pout in portion sizes (make sure to pat dry the fillets first). marinate for a couple of hours or overnight, grill on med-high heat (be carefull of the flame ups) - enjoy

Re: broiled sea raven and ocean pout
Is sea raven the same as sea robin? Because I've heard some people say that sea robin tail can be close to lobster if done right.

Re: broiled sea raven and ocean pout
The meat on a sea raven is close to a monk fish.
