Default Blue bullfrogs

Anyone else ever see one of these? I saw one many years ago in a pond in PA. I have heard conflicting reports of how rare they are. I was able to find out that their coloration is caused by missing yellow pigment, but that's about it. Anyone have any info about these guys?

Hello!
That is my very own "Kerbluey" you've shown there. He showed up in 2010 in my frog-filled pond for a couple of months, then was gone -- likely a meal for a great blue heron, a snapping turtle, or a bigger bullfrog. He was a great photo subject for the brief time he was here. I too learned that it's a missing-yellow pigment goof... you'll find a number of blue bullfrogs on an image search. More pictures of this guy are at Kerbluey.com.
Fun to see that Kerbluey has propagated!

Nice website! Thought it was going to be a buy this or that site but not.
You must have a lot of free time...do you fish?

I don't fish, yet anyway, but I'm hooked up with a passionate fisherman and expert fly-tier and we go out to the Gulf and catch sea trout. We also have a great tarpon place here (just outside the Homosassa river mouth). The last report was a 150-lb tarpon that broke the line! (I wasn't there to take a picture for evidence.)
